Funny how Creep is "That song". The setup is from the Tel Aviv show -> https://citizeninsane.eu/live/2017/2017-07-19.html Weird that he says "London, UK". Is that a mistake?

Not to mention they would try out a new song every couple of soundchecks

I agree with your second paragraph. Not a good studio effort. Also, Big Boots is a much better title than Man of War.

All previous tours featured around 10 songs from the album (+ b-sides) they were touring, and sometimes more. This was still the case in the second year of the tour (2004, 2009). For this reason alone, even if they are putting together cool setlists, bringing back old classics and giving great performances, this AMSP tour hasn't felt as compelling to me as previous ones. Not to mention, of course, the inevitable greatest hits/farewell feel that this gives to the tour. I enjoyed way more my 2012 shows than the one in 2016 — even if the sets look worse, there was a freshness and an adventurousness to what they were doing that is missing now.

It also contains some awful song titles too. Ful Stop? Why drop the 'The' in Present Tense? And Decks Dark, what the hell is that? Also, Silent Spring >>> The Numbers.

I wouldn't be shocked either. My theory is that AMSP is kind of Nigel's work. There's something about it that makes me think they just did a 3 week session without being quite sure about it, and then out of all that raw material Nigel put together a proper album by himself, and they liked it. Most of the songs are heavily edited and the arrangements are not as focused and polished as in previous albums.

Then we got all the news items (and the fan speculation) on how AMSP surely was their last because most of the songs were "old".

I think the YouTube era might have something to do with this. It is a very different thing for such a relevant band to try out a new, half-baked song in 2018 than what it was in 2006. The level of scrutiny and the quality of the bootlegs... it is basically like releasing the song.

Wow, those are really bad. I do love Desert Island Disk, and you kind of have a point about 2016 (I think 2009 was the worst), but all those others... Unpopular opinion: Let Down and The Tourist are probably the most overrated songs in Radiohead's catalogue. They're very nice tunes, but that's it. I can think of 10 or 15 better songs to close a RH show that The Tourist.

I don't get this. Why is it revealing? Was it very Rachel-like to use split infinitives?

This Doesn't Deserve Its Own Thread - Radiohead Edition

There's a pretty good one-hour radio show in national Catalan radio that is dedicated to a different topic in music (a band, a genre, a record label...) every day. Yesterday evening, to my surprise, the topic was post-OKC Radiohead, in an attempt to show fans that stopped listening to them after they "became weird" what they had missed. As the host went over their career path, he played (in full) and discussed Airbag, HTDC, Pyramid Song, You and Whose Army, 2+2=5, There There, 15 Step, Nude, Daydreaming and Present Tense. It was quite a treat, as the host was surprisingly knowledgeable about the band. One disturbing thing is that all these overblown descriptions of listening experiences, album appreciation or just about any long paragraph in the subreddit is written in exactly the same annoying style. Same adjectives, same overblown metaphors, same over-the-top sentimentality, same tired turns of phrase and idioms.
